Did a couple quick paint jobs today. The mirror is that gold plastic material that was popular in the 60/70s. I have found that when they are on the wall, sporting new paint, no one will even suspect it is *plastic*.

I did the cute little chest of drawers in gray & pink. (I think the pics look a bit dark) I got a deal on the pink paint. Lowe's OOPS paint, unused & unopened, gotta luv it, $15.98 Valspar for $2.50.

This has been *sold*.-

What a beautiful gorgeous morning we have here in NH!
I have been busy treasure hunting...which seems to always lead to the painting of a few pieces. Yesterday I got this old tired dull bench. I ditched the green cushion and painted her up in a shabby beachy aqua.

she was a country girl, now she is a beach bum

I went on a house call last week. (not my fav thing to do when it is some one I know) But this one turned out quite well. Almost all the items had been stored in an attic for years. They had been moved from the elder family's farm. So yup we're talking *farm fresh*!
Here's some pics of a few things from that haul.

It looks like Mother Nature is going to win this one. The day trip down to Brimfield probably won't happen. Just too early to get up, to travel too far, to walk around in the rain in fields of mud. Ah well.
Here's pics of three items that sold today.

*SOLD* Great big old wooden tote/carrier spent the day at Just the Thing and has already been hauled off to a new home.

*SOLD* This cute little aqua stand caught some one's eye the second day it was in the shop.

*SOLD* Sweet wood/wicker table I painted on Saturday and brought in the next day. She didn't stick around for long!

Here I am again, playing catch up with the Blog! And realizing that some how it got to be the month of May!
It seems I have done more than my fair share of treasure hunting lately. (well when I figure out what exactly my share is I'll let ya know...)
And of course hauling home goodies means at least something in that bunch needed a paint job!
But occasionally I do acquire a piece that is just fine the way it is.
I got these two pretty Victorian style chairs at a yard sale today. Nicely done cut velvet rose upholstery and very nice details. They will go right into Just The Thing1 as they are, probably tomorrow. The table got painted this afternoon.

The table was too dull before, she needed a quick Pink Me Up!

Most cool turquoise mid-century modern chair. Beautiful form, curved wooden back, vinyl cushion in great condition. All it needs is Don Draper from MadMen lounging on it, cigarettte & cocktail in hand!

Italian step table, came & went so quick it was hard to believe. It was quite unique. Beautiful wood (maybe flame mahogany) with leather inlay, gold scroll designs, a criss crossed wire front door on the top cubbie, and an open shelf area blow. This was made by the Milano Furniture Co. It happily went to a new home.

Mersman table I did in Oil Rubbed Bronze paint, actually looks black with just a hint of metallic. Nice clean lines. Good size for a flat panel tv, drawer for the remote, shelf for the other components. Bit of a different look with the middle drawer. on top. Not sure when this will go into one of the shops though, just no room at this time.

I just gave this a coat of primer. I'm thinking it will be some shade of white. It was an old radio cabinet. Someone took the time to make it useful again by removing the radio, adding shelves and a back. It will make a great little cabinet for a bathroom, bedroom or even for office storage.

I'm a little bit country! Every once in awhile I just have to bid on some country primitives. The nice old grooved rolling pin (Lefse?) has already been sold. The rest of these goodies you can find at A Well Kept secret in Kingston NH.

And what is this you ask? It is a big old Post Office mail slot cubby. (yes it is wedged tightly in the back of my vehicle) Evidently this was in the barn of a house here in town that once upon a time housed our Post Office (such as it was) and also a hardware store. Pretty cool huh.

Hope you are enjoying your day! I finally sat down for a few minutes to do some posts here on the Blog. When I was at the Laconia Antiques Center the other day I saw this gorgeous bed and dresser. I just had to take a pic of it.
This is an old heater grate...I did it in a cool looking finish.

All Available at A Well Kept Secret in Kingston NH

Sweet Aqua Wash Stand (with cut out for the bowl) sold first morning it was in the shop at A WELL KEPT SECRET

This started out as a dull brown plastic frame with a 1970s floral print inside. It has been chicced up with some Sonora Rose paint and has been made over to a Gypsy Chic Chalkboard.

Fabulous Funky and French! That describes this pair of vinyl clad iron chairs. How cool and retro are they!? You can check out this pair at Just The Thing in down town Dover NH!

Again, too many days have gone by between postings! Not saying I lead a crazy busy interesting life, just sayin' I have been busy and while some people might think I am interesting I bet more lead toward crazy!
I've been lucky lately to go treasure hunting in some new places, which is always fun and makes the items seem even more special.
The CiderMill antiques shops down in Sterling MA is a great place to spend some time. Just be sure you do have a good amount of time to poke around.
I also got to meet two FaceBook friends, Steph and Barbie, who have a sweet space called Our Shabby Corner down in N Chelmsford.
This week I went for the first time to a large group shop up in Laconia NH that used to be the down town JJ Newberry's store. Cool building, stairs to the mezzanine & complete with the original lunch counter and swivel stools!
And I spent a day with THE SISTA hitting an indoors antiques flea market,  a shop up in Concord and a couple yard sales.

Here's some pics of some goodies, some projects, make overs from the last week or so.

A Well Kept Secret

This weekend was the Spring Open House at A Well Kept Secret. Hopefully lots of customers had an enjoyable visit & went home with some treasures.
Here I am doing a redo last Friday. I brought in several items that can be used as planters...the wooden tote, the aqua one, and some wire baskets. The chairs are still available (far as I know) but the aqua wash stand sold first thing.
