Auction Finds

I went pickin' in a barn today....no treasures to be found.

But then we headed up to an all day auction under the tents.
It's always a good time with lots of good stuff!
Though we froze our butts off.

I felt I got a good variety of things. A small vintage sewing stand, an upholstered cricket stool and an old wooden magazine rack were the only pieces of *furniture* I got. I need to downsize! The stand and rack will both be painted.

Scored a great old wooden egg box too!

I got a set of white swirl FireKing mixing/nesting bowls which will probably find their way to the shelf of my Hoosier style cabinet.
But the Holland made blue and white wall hung coffee grinder will be going into the shop, along with a nice old covered picnic basket, a 1950s Pendleton camp blanket, a shabby old quilt and a dark blue woven coverlet.
Also have an assortment of colorful tins. As well as a few other odds n ends.

Hopefully I'll get pics posted tomorrow!

Today's Find

Today's Find:
A set of four 1900 bird prints, framed in twigs. How sweet is that?!
I picked these up at Olde Towne Hall Antiques, a group shop in Stratham NH.

I love them! They are already on my wall!

Love this Aqua (so much prettier than the snow & mud combo that surrounds me!)

*SOLD* Cute small wheelbarrow for your shabby garden or to decorate your porch.
Size is about 33" long, 12" wide & about 15" high.

Old Wooden Tray/Caddy

This is a handy old divided tray or caddy in yummy aqua paint. The size is 12"x22" and it is 4.5" deep.
It would make a fabulous display, a great shabby country or beach cottage look.
I can see it on a bench in a hallway or on a porch filled with bottles and shells.
Hanging on a wall displaying some pretties.
Or as a table centerpiece decorated with plants, flowers and candles.

1947 Diary (gone to new home)

This diary was in a box lot I got at an auction.
A couple entries caught my eye.
The writer mentioned her father got wood delivery for $6.50 (cord wood I guess!)
And she went to the dentist for a filling, cost $2.50.

Barn Fresh! Dirt and straw optional

Vintage Cloverdale bottles and crate
Love the clovers embossed on the bottoms of the bottles

Stylish Wraps 1937

Controls head wounds and makes a great chin lift too

My fav, imagine how you could co ordinate this with your outfit? A sprained ankle never looked so good
And always handy for getting around on those snowy days too

My Old Bird Cage

I figured it was time to take the holly greenery out of my old bird cage...give it a little taste of Spring.
(yes there is still 2 feet of snow covering my yard but I can dream...)

I do think I need to put a shabby little doily under the flower pot...

I love this bird cage for several reasons. First, I got it cheap at a yard sale. :>)

It came with the solid ceramic-like parakeet on the swing. It still has its old glass water and feeding dishes. And the clasps that hold the cage to the bottom are small iron owl figures!
